Dear Camper,
The Jim Calhoun Basketball Camp welcomes the opportunity to share part of your 1999
summer. We feel that the summer basketball program we offer can be very important to you.
The Jim Calhoun Basketball Camp strives to develop each camper as a person and a
basketball player.
Our camp will give each boy the opportunity to spend time at one of the finest college
campuses in the country and get a feel to what college life is all about. Our camp hopes
to develop your basketball skills and to provide the motivation to be successful. The list
continues to grow of those who have attended our summer camp and are now successful in the
scholastic and college ranks.

Registration-Fees
Overnight Campers $385 per camper
Day Campers $275 per
camper
Weekend Campers $300 Per camper
A $100 deposit must be sent with the application. The balance will be due July 1,1999.
Included in the registration fee is a basketball, tee-shirt, accident insurance,and 3
meals and housing for overnight campers and one daily meal for day campers.
Cancellation: A refund of tuition, less a $100 administration fee, will be
granted upon cancellation. Refunds will be granted only upon the receipt of a signed
physician's excuse. All cancellations must be in writing as no cancellations will be taken
over the phone. No refunds will be granted for any reason after July 1,1999.
Registration for Resident Campers will take place at Gampel Pavilion on
the Sunday of your week(s) between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00p.m. Roomate requests
may be made in the space provided on the camp application. Campers will be housed two to a
room.
Registration for the weekend Clinic will begin at 6:00p.m. on July 30.
Registration for Commuting Campers will take place at Gampel Pavilion on the Sunday of
your week(s)between the hours of 12 noon and 1:00p.m.

Schedule
Following Sunday registration we will have lunch and then camp activities will commence.
We will introduce the boys to the staff and the organizational procedures for the camp
will be explained. There will be three sessions daily consisting of both individual and
small group instruction, league games, lectures and films. Coaches will be available on a
daily basis for campers desiring extra individual instruction. A certain amount of free
time is also given each day for free swim or relaxation. Commuting Campers are expected to
participate in Sunday afternoon activities. Commuting Campers will also have the option to
participate in evening activities throughout the week. Further information regarding
commuter drop off and pickup times and evening schedules will be forwarded upon receipt of
camp application
Meals
The chefs at The University of Connecticut prepare wholesome meals which
are served in a spacious, attractive and air-conditioned dining hall which is located in
the dormitory complex in which you will be housed. Quantity is just as important as
quality for the hard-working basketball player, so we give you seconds and thirds on
food,milk and soft drinks at all meals. There is also a snack bar in the evening.
Commuting campers receive lunch every day and have the option to purchase breakfast and
dinner each day. |
Eligibility
According to new NCAA Regulations, Jim Calhouns's Basketball Camp can
allow boys who have graduated high school and are about to enter college in the Fall of
1999 to attend any of its sessions. In addition, all campers must be nine years old or
entering the fourth grade in September. |
Physical Examination
Before attending camp, each boy must be examined by a licensed
physician. The enclosed youth health examination record and also the Parent's Approval and
Consent Form must be in prior to their arrival at camp. |
Closing Night
Official Check-Out for each camp will take place at Gampel Pavilion
on the Thursday afternoon of your camp session at approximately 4:30 p.m. following a
brief awards ceremony which will begin at 4:00 p.m. |
