Coach Kelvin Sampson enters his 5th season as the Sooner Head Coach after posting an impressive record over a 14 year head coaching career. Coach Sampson was named the 1995 AP National Coach of the Year, Basketball Writers Coach of the Year and AP Big Eight Coach of the Year. Coach Sampson is an intense, enthusiastic and hard working coach who enjoys working with young people who strive to be the best basketball player they can be.

We would like to thank those of you who attended our basketball camp last year and hope you can be a part of it again this year. We have had tremendous turnouts for our basketball camp at OU and plan to make this years camp even better than before. Make sure you register early, as camp f ills up fast.

 

1997 CAMP DATES AND FEES

June 2-5 - DAY CAMP:

(8-12-00 Noon - 1st-8th Grades) . $125 Camp Fee, $ 50 Deposit

June6-8 - FATHER/SON CAMP:

Overnight Camp - Ages 9-18 $245 Camp Fee, $100 Deposit

June 15-19 - INDIVIDUAL CAMP:

Overnight Camp - Ages 9-18 $270 Camp Fee; $100 Deposit

Commuter Camp - Ages 9-18 $225 Camp Fee; $100 Deposit

June 20-22 - SHOOTERS CAMP:

Overnight Camp - Grades 742 $150 Camp Fee; $100 Deposit

JuIy27-31 -INDIVIDUAL CAMP:

Overnight Camp - Ages 9-18 $270 Camp Fee; $100 Deposit

Commuter Camp - Ages 9-18 $225 camp Fee, $100 Deposit

Campers should report to OU Fieldhouse (OUFH) or Lloyd Noble Center (LNC) for registration as follows:

Day Camp: 6/2-6/5 - OUFH -8:00 a.m.

Father/Son Overnight Camp: 6/6-6/8 - LNC - 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Individual Overnight Camp:

6/15-6/19 - LNC - 1:00-3:00 p.m

Shooting Overnight Camp:

6/20-6/22 - LNC - 1:00-3:00 p.m

Individual Overnight Camp 7/27-7/31 -LNC - 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Play in the OU Fieldhouse and Lloyd Noble Center.

Individual instruction and drills as used by OU. Competitive team play with supervised games. Big 12 game films, NBA Hi-Lite films and other OU basketball tapes.

Full use of all available athletic and basketball facilities.

Instructional groups will be divided fairly according to age and ability.

Teams will be divided equally. Although competition is keen, individual offensive and defensive improvement is stressed.

Live on OU campus in university housing under the supervision of high school and college coaches.

All meals will be provided at a university cafeteria under the direction of a licensed dietitian.

Parents are invited to attend any of the instruction sessions or league games.

Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

Individual Awards will be awarded at each camp.

A camp store will be provided to all campers to purchase snacks, basketballs, shirts, etc.

A camp bank will be provided to all campers for their money and valuables.

ACHING STAFF

The staff will consist of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, his assistants, and several outstanding college and high school coaches. A full time trainer will be available 24 hours a day.

We will give your son the best of supervision and instruction during his stay at Sooner Basketball Camp and hope that his camp experience will be a rewarding one.

*THE FEE FOR COMMUTERS INCLUDES NOON AND EVENING MEALS AS WELL AS FULL DAY AND EVENING CAMP SESSIONS.
