WHY GW
BASKETBALL CAMP? Although there are hundreds of day camps held during the summer months in
the metropolitan area, the GW Basketball Camp Is one of the few which is hold in the heart
of Washington, DC.
Through the years, thousands of parents who work in the vicinity
of the George Washington University and Medical Center have had to take their children to
facilities in either Virginia or Maryland.
THE GW Basketball Camp offers these parents
he the convenience of driving to work and walking their child to
Smith Center. At the end of the day, parents walk bat* to Smith Center to meet their
child. Its that simple !
For those who commute to work by Metro, we are located two short
blocks away from the Foggy Bottom/GW Station. The GW Camp Is your smart choice toward
guaranteeing your child two great weeks of basketball. AD of our counselors love
basketball and enjoy working with children.
We believe the "Tom Ponders
approach" i III duces boys to competitive sports in an almosphere
which is enjoyable yet allows them to master skills, learn teamwork and
Our goal Is to take what they know add to it and then perfect it.
While Coach Penders is new to the Washington and GW scene, he is
a very successful Division I head coach who will help your child to become a more
accomplished basketball player while having plenty of fun In the process!
The camp will be conducted at air conditioned Charles E. Smith
Corder on the campus of The George Washington University, which is located six blocks west
of the White House, at the comer of 22nd & G Streets, N.W.,Smith Center has been the
home of men's and women's basketball since November of 1975. Smith Center features:
. - a 15,000 square foot main
- a 25- yard, 8- lane Indoor swimming pool . - two multipurpose
auxillary gyms
